ACC 4 OF 2016 - Republic vs Pius Kundu Makari and David Oduor Oketch

Summary: The accused persons who were employees of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company working as Security Supervisor and Security Assistant were arraigned in court for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of Kes. 200,000 from Mohamed Noor Salah in exchange for them to reconnect his water supply, and also for them not to take the customer to court for stealing water. The customer visited EACC offices where the case was tasked to be handled by Mr Bernard Juma, who would be the Investigator. They laid a trap to nab the two as they received the bribe money by fitting the customer with a gadget to record the conversation between the himself and the two NAWASCO employees, and tagged currency which would be used by the customer as bribe money. The customer met the two and they demanded the bribe, which the customer handed over. He then alerted EACC officers who were standing by, and they came in and arrested the two and charged them in a court of law.
